1. Network Folder Function

  • Q.1-1
    What is Network Folder Function?
  • A.1-1
PLEXTALK Linio Pocket has wireless LAN capability. You can access an SD card and internal memory in your PLEXTALK Linio Pocket from your computer via wireless LAN as if the SD card/internal memory is one of the folders on your computer. For example, you can drag and drop any files on your computer to the SD card without connecting your Linio Pocket via USB.
  • Q.1-2
Can I connect my PLEXTALK Linio Pocket with any wireless network, for example, in a hot spot of a hotel or an airport?
  • A.1-2
PLEXTALK Linio Pocket offers simple wireless connectivity for your home or office network,, where you do not need to input a password on a web browser like Internet Explorer. Hot spots that ask you to input passwords on a web browser can not be connected to your Linio Pocket.
  • Q.1-4
What computer operation systems does this function support?
  • A.1-4
The Utility Software supports Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. To access the Network folder of Linio Pocket from Windows Vista and Windows 7, you need to configure the network security setting of Windows OS. For more details, please read Section 2 "Set LAN manager authentication level of windows PC" of the Tutorial for NetworkFolder.
  • Q.1-5
What is LAN manager authentication level?
  • A.1-5
This is one of the LAN security settings of Windows OS, particularly Windows Vista and 7. You have to change the network security policy of your Windows OS to access your PLEXTALK Linio Pocket via a network. Technically speaking, you have to have your Windows accept NTLM response from a device on your network. You may need to contact your network administrator when you want to change this setting to connect your Linio Pocket.
You do not have to change this setting when you use Windows XP or 2000.
  • For more details, please read Section 2 ‘Detail of LAN manager authentication level’ of NetworkFolder_Trouble_Shooting_Guide.doc.
You can also check this by visiting the following site of Microsoft Support: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823659 (section 10 Network security: Lan Manager authentication level)
  • Q.1-8
File transfer error message shows up during file transfer to Linio Pocket. Network connection is disconnected during file transfer. Did this break the SD card/internal memory on my Linio Pocket?

If you want to erase this entry to get more vacant memory, you can try the ‘Check disk’ function on Windows OS. For more information about the Check disk function, please see 1.4 of NetworkFolder_Trouble_Shooting_Guide.doc. Otherwise, you must copy all the files on your SD card/internal memory to your computer then try to format the SD card/internal memory.
  • Q.1-9
After file transfer, it looks to me that SD card/internal memory remaining size is wrong or smaller than I imagined. How can I check this?
  • A.1-9
It seems that a file entry on a SD card/internal memory has collapsed and has occupied a certain memory area of the SD card/internal memory and decreased the size of vacant memory. If you want to erase this entry to get more vacant memory, you can try the ‘Check disk’ function on Windows OS.
